Vinod Rai has completed his term as an Independent Director of Apollo Tyres Limited and has retired from the Board with effect from February 9 2026.
Vinod Rai is a senior leader with extensive experience across finance banking and public administration. He is the Founder of India Infrastructure Finance Co. Ltd. and currently holds several key board level positions in the financial and corporate sectors. He serves as Chairman of Shubham Housing Development Finance Co. Ltd. Kalyan Jewellers India Ltd. and IDFC Financial Holding Co. Ltd. He is also the Independent Chairman of Unity Small Finance Bank Ltd. and has been an Independent Director at Lava International Ltd. since 2017.
Rai previously served as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and has held multiple senior roles within the Central Government and various state governments. His final role in public service was as Secretary in the Ministry of Finance Government of India where he was responsible for overseeing the financial services sector including banks and insurance institutions.
Over the course of his career he has been associated with the Boards of several major financial institutions including State Bank of India ICICI Bank IDBI Bank Life Insurance Corporation of India and IDFC Bank. Rai holds graduate degrees from Harvard University and the Delhi School of Economics reflecting his strong academic foundation alongside his extensive leadership experience.
