Leadership transition at Godrej Industries Limited sees Nadir Godrej retire in August 2026 while Pirojsha Godrej takes charge as Chairperson
Nadir Godrej will retire as Chairperson of Godrej Industries Limited in August 2026 after reaching the age of 75. Following his retirement he will take on the role of Chairman Emeritus and will step down from the boards of key group companies including Godrej Agrovet Ltd. Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. and Godrej Properties Ltd.. He has already resigned as Chairperson of Astec LifeSciences Ltd..
Pirojsha Godrej will assume the position of Chairperson of the group and Godrej Industries Limited from August 14 2026 marking a significant leadership transition within the Godrej Group. At the same time Burjis Godrej will take over as Chairperson of Godrej Agrovet Ltd. and will join the board of Godrej Industries Limited.
In other leadership updates Vishal Sharma who serves as CEO Chemicals at Godrej Industries Limited has been appointed as Chairperson of Astec LifeSciences Ltd. while Arijit Mukherjee will step into the role of Executive Director.
Nadir Godrej has played a key role in shaping Godrej Industries Limited having served as Managing Director since 2001 when the company was known as Godrej Soaps and later becoming Chairman and Managing Director in 2021. His association with the group dates back to 1977 during which he contributed across sectors such as animal feed agricultural inputs and chemicals and secured patents in these fields. He has also been actively involved with industry bodies and academic institutions and has received recognition at both national and international levels. He holds degrees in chemical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University along with an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Pirojsha Godrej who is the son of Adi Godrej currently serves as Executive Vice Chairperson of the Godrej Industries Group and is Chairperson of Godrej Properties Ltd. Godrej Capital and Godrej Fund Management. Under his leadership Godrej Properties Ltd. has seen significant growth and emerged as India’s largest real estate developer by sales in FY21 while also achieving global recognition for sustainability performance. He completed his undergraduate studies at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania followed by a master’s degree from Columbia University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
