Dr. V.S. Parthasarathy and Mahalingam G. Reappointed as Independent Directors of LIC

Life Insurance Corporation of India has reappointed Dr. V.S. Parthasarathy and Gurumoorthy Mahalingam also known as Mahalingam G. as Independent Directors for a six month term beginning January 29 2026.

The announcement coincided with the completion of tenure of three other Independent Directors of the corporation. The reappointments aim to ensure continuity in governance and strategic oversight at LIC during the interim period.

Dr. V.S. Parthasarathy brings extensive leadership experience across finance technology and corporate strategy. He previously served as Group Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer of the Mahindra Group and also held the position of President at the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He currently serves as an Independent Director on the boards of NIIT Learning Systems Pennar Industries Everenviro Resource Management Greencell Mobility and SEWA while also contributing actively to social initiatives through SEWA. A fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India he is also qualified with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. His professional expertise includes organisational transformation leadership development strategic planning finance and global operations. Dr. Parthasarathy holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from Gujarat University completed the advanced management programme at Harvard Business School and earned a doctorate in management studies from the University of Mumbai.

Mahalingam G. has deep experience in financial regulation banking and capital markets. He previously served as Executive Director at the Reserve Bank of India and later as a Whole Time Member of the Securities and Exchange Board of India. He currently holds Independent Director positions on the boards of City Union Bank India International Bullion Exchange IFSC Limited CARE Ratings Central Depository Services DSP Pension Fund Managers and Care Ratings Nepal. His areas of expertise include financial oversight capital market regulation banking supervision and corporate governance. Mahalingam holds a master’s degree in statistics from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and an MBA in international banking and finance from the University of Birmingham.
