Spandana Sphoorty Financial Limited has appointed Venkatesh Krishnan as its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD), effective November 27, 2025.
Krishnan, a Chartered Accountant, brings over 34 years of experience in the financial services sector across leading institutions. He earlier served as CEO & MD of IFMR Rural Channels and currently sits on the Board of MFIN. His prior leadership roles include heading Branch Banking at HSBC and serving as Chief Distribution Officer at L&T Insurance, with exposure across assets, liabilities, and NBFC operations.
Since 2018, Krishnan has led the microfinance business at HDFC Bank, driving initiatives such as low-cost branches, undergraduate hiring programmes, and a unified technology platform. Under his leadership, the bank expanded its self-help group portfolio, earning the ‘Best Private Bank’ recognition from the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) in FY22 and FY23.
His core expertise spans financial inclusion, rural banking, and strategic expansion to strengthen microfinance operations.
