Noel Tata will retire as Chairman of Trent Limited after nearly three decades with the Tata Group’s retail business with his final AGM as Chairman held ahead of his retirement in November 2026.
Noel Naval Tata has announced that he will step down as Chairman of Trent Limited after reaching the retirement age of 70 in November 2026, marking the end of his nearly 30 year association with the Tata Group’s retail business. Speaking at the company’s 47th Annual General Meeting, Tata informed shareholders that it would be his final AGM as Chairman.
A veteran business leader with more than four decades of experience across the Tata Group, Tata currently serves as Chairman of Tata Trusts and also chairs all constituent trusts under the organisation. He continues to hold key leadership positions across several Tata Group companies, serving as Chairman of Tata International Limited, Voltas Limited, and Tata Investment Corporation Limited while also serving as Vice Chairman of Tata Steel and Titan Company Limited.
His most recent executive assignment was as Managing Director of Tata International from 2010 to 2021, where he oversaw significant business expansion and growth. Before that, he served as Managing Director of Trent for more than 11 years, leading the company’s retail expansion across multiple formats and strengthening its presence in the Indian retail sector.
Tata graduated from the University of Sussex and completed the International Executive Programme at INSEAD. Throughout his career, he has played an important role in shaping the growth and strategic direction of several Tata Group businesses.
