Former PayPal CEO Dan Schulman Appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Verizon

Verizon Communications has named former PayPal CEO Dan Schulman as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Hans Vestberg, who led the telecom giant since 2018.

Verizon Communications Inc. has announced the appointment of Dan Schulman, former Chief Executive Officer of PayPal, as its new CEO, marking a major leadership transition at the U.S. telecommunications company. Schulman will succeed Hans Vestberg, who has helmed Verizon since 2018.

As part of the transition, Vestberg will continue to serve on the Verizon Board of Directors until 2026 and act as a special advisor to ensure a smooth leadership handover and oversee the completion of Verizon’s acquisition of Frontier Communications.

Additionally, the company has named Mark Bertolini as Chairman of the Board.

Schulman, a veteran leader in the technology, telecommunications, and financial services sectors, has spent his career driving digital transformation, financial inclusion, and customer-centric innovation. Prior to joining Verizon, he held leadership roles at PayPal, American Express, Sprint Nextel Corporation, Priceline Group, and AT&T.

He currently serves on PayPal’s Board of Directors, is a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and co-chairs the World Economic Forum’s Global Financial Inclusion Steering Committee. Schulman holds a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College and an MBA from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business.

Recognised as one of Fortune’s Top 20 Businesspersons of the Year, Schulman is also the recipient of the Frederick Douglass Award for his contributions to social and financial empowerment.
