Walmart International CEO Kathryn McLay Set To Step Down

Kathryn McLay will step down as Chief Executive Officer of Walmart International with effect from January 31 2026 after leading the business for two and a half years. She will continue in her role through the first quarter to ensure a smooth leadership transition. Walmart has confirmed that a successor will be announced shortly.

Before her current role McLay served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Sams Club US where she delivered twelve consecutive quarters of double digit sales growth. During her tenure she strengthened merchandise quality expanded omnichannel capabilities and steered the business through the pandemic.

McLay is a seasoned retail leader with experience across Walmart US and international operations. She began her career with Walmart in strategy and supply chain functions and later led the Neighbourhood Market business. Appointed as CEO of Walmart International in August 2023 she has overseen operations across eighteen countries including high growth markets such as China and India. Throughout her career she has remained focused on operational excellence customer experience and strong team leadership.
