Vedveer Arya Appointed Director at BPCL, Succeeds Dr. Sushma Agarwal

Bharat Petroleum appoints Vedveer Arya as Additional Director while Dr. Sushma Agarwal retires after completing her tenure.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited has appointed Vedveer Arya as an Additional Director on its Board with effect from March 9, 2026. He replaces Dr. Sushma Agarwal, who retired from the Board upon completion of her tenure on March 10, 2026.

Arya is a 1997-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service and currently serves as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. Earlier, he held the position of Joint Secretary and Additional Financial Advisor (R&D) at the Ministry of Defence.

He has also served as Integrated Financial Adviser to the Southern Naval Command in Kochi and the Southern Air Command in Thiruvananthapuram. Arya previously worked as Director (Finance) at the Defence Research and Development Organisation in Hyderabad, where he contributed to financial oversight for programmes including the Agni missile project and other missile initiatives. In addition to his administrative work, he has authored books on Indian history and mathematics. Arya holds a Master’s degree in Arts from University of Delhi.

Dr. Sushma Agarwal previously served as Principal of Shardayatan High School for 18 years, where she was involved in academic administration and institutional management. She also served as Director of the Gujarat Panchayat Service Selection Board, contributing to recruitment and administrative processes related to the state’s panchayat services. Dr. Agarwal holds a Master of Science degree and a Ph.D. in Botany and has experience in both education and district-level administration.
