Tata Trusts has reappointed veteran industrialist Venu Srinivasan as Trustee and Vice Chairman for life following the Trusts’ revised 2024 governance framework which removed fixed tenure limits for trustees. The move underscores a commitment to leadership continuity and long-term strategic vision within one of India’s most respected philanthropic institutions.
Srinivasan, Chairman Emeritus of TVS Motor Company, has been a driving force behind India’s manufacturing excellence and corporate governance standards. He became CEO of Sundaram-Clayton, the holding company of TVS Motor, in 1979. The same year TVS Motor was founded and played a pivotal role in transforming the company into one of India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturers with a strong international presence.
Beyond business, Srinivasan has been deeply engaged in community welfare through the Srinivasan Services Trust (SST), which spearheads development programs across more than 2,500 villages in India focusing on health, education, environment, and sustainable livelihoods.
He has received multiple honours including the JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award (2004) for exemplary industry leadership, the Order of Diplomatic Service Merit from South Korea (2014) for strengthening bilateral relations, and an Honorary Doctorate in Science from the University of Warwick for his contributions to manufacturing innovation.
In his continuing role as Vice Chairman of Tata Trusts, Srinivasan will help guide key philanthropic and governance decisions ensuring the Trusts’ impact in sectors such as education, healthcare, and rural development remains deep and enduring.
