Shalini Pandit Appointed Government Nominee Director on LIC Board

IAS officer succeeds Dr. Parshant Kumar Goyal as Government representative on the Board of Life Insurance Corporation of India

The Government of India has appointed Shalini Pandit, Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, as Government Nominee Director on the Board of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). She takes over the role from Dr. Parshant Kumar Goyal, Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Services.

An Indian Administrative Service officer from the Odisha cadre, Pandit has served in several strategic roles in the state and central governments. Before joining the Ministry of Finance, she led key social sector portfolios in Odisha as Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department, Health and Family Welfare Department, Mission Shakti Department, and the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture. She has also worked as Mission Director of the National Health Mission, served as Labour Commissioner, and held District Collector positions in multiple districts.

Her leadership in public health initiatives, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, and her contributions to education and women empowerment programs have been widely acknowledged.

Pandit is a graduate in botany from Miranda House, University of Delhi, and holds a master’s degree in wildlife science from the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun.
