Bharat Dynamics names Shailesh Vagerwal as Chairman and Managing Director effective July 9 2026 to lead the state owned defence manufacturer.
State owned defence manufacturer Bharat Dynamics Limited has appointed Shailesh Vagerwal as its Chairman and Managing Director with effect from July 9 2026.
Vagerwal is an officer of the Indian Ordnance Factories Service with nearly 30 years of experience in the defence manufacturing industry. Before taking charge at Bharat Dynamics, he served as Chief General Manager at Ordnance Factory Khamaria under Munitions India Limited.
Throughout his career, Vagerwal has held key leadership positions at Ordnance Factory Dum Dum, Ordnance Factory Itarsi, Ordnance Factory Khamaria and the corporate office of Munitions India Limited. His experience covers a wide range of functions within the defence sector.
He has worked extensively in ammunition manufacturing, project execution, quality assurance, research and development, materials management and export operations. His appointment is expected to strengthen Bharat Dynamics’ leadership as the company continues to support India’s defence manufacturing and strategic capabilities.
