Pankaj Jain has completed his tenure as Chairman and Director of Petronet LNG Limited following his superannuation with effect from January 1 2026.
Jain served as Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and is a senior Indian Administrative Service officer. Over the course of his career he has played a significant role in policy formulation and execution across both central and state governments. His work has spanned multiple sectors including oil and gas financial services industry power information technology livelihood development and MSME promotion.
He has also held leadership and board level positions at several major public sector and financial institutions. These include Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Punjab National Bank Canara Bank IDBI Bank Life Insurance Corporation the International Financial Services Centres Authority and the National Housing Bank. Through these roles he contributed to governance oversight strategic direction and institutional development.
Jain is an alumnus of Shri Ram College of Commerce where he earned his bachelor’s degree in commerce. He also holds an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies Delhi and is a qualified cost accountant from the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.
