Banking and corporate governance veteran P. S. Jayakumar retires from the Board of Emcure Pharmaceuticals after completing his tenure as Independent Director.
Palamadai Sundararajan Jayakumar has retired as an Independent Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited, with effect from July 21, 2026, following the completion of his tenure on the company’s Board.
Jayakumar currently serves as the Non Executive Chairman and Independent Director of ICRA Limited. He is a seasoned banking and financial services professional with extensive experience in corporate governance, business leadership, and strategic management.
He began his career with Citibank in 1986 and later became Co Head of Citibank India before leaving the organisation in 2008. Between 2015 and 2019, he served as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Bank of Baroda, where he led the integration of Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank following their merger.
Beyond banking, Jayakumar has co promoted VBHC Value Homes and Home First India and serves on the Boards of companies across manufacturing, financial services, pharmaceuticals, media, and logistics. He is also a mentor to startups and is associated with the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs.
Jayakumar is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He holds an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur and was a Gurukul Chevening Scholar at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
