OpenAI Appoints Former JioStar CEO Kiran Mani as Managing Director for APAC and Japan

Kiran Mani joins OpenAI as Managing Director for Asia Pacific and Japan to drive regional growth and accelerate AI adoption across key markets

Kiran Mani has been appointed as Managing Director for Asia Pacific and Japan at OpenAI as the company strengthens its leadership team and expands its presence across the region.

Before joining OpenAI, Mani served as Chief Executive Officer of JioStar where he led the creation of the company following the merger of Viacom18 and Star India. He also oversaw digital platforms including JioHotstar and Cricinfo.

Earlier in his career Mani held several leadership roles at Google including General Manager for Android and Google Play across APAC and Japan Managing Director for U.S. Retail and Head of Sales for India. He has also worked with IBM and Microsoft and co founded advertising technology startup Fosbury Flop.

In his new role at OpenAI Mani will focus on expanding the company’s footprint across Asia Pacific and Japan while supporting the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies among businesses developers and organisations in the region.
