Strengthening Leadership for OTT Expansion and Digital Strategy
JioStar has also reinforced its leadership by appointing N.P. Singh and Professor Bharat N. Anand as Independent Directors, as part of a strategic move aimed at further consolidating its hold in traditional as well as digital media space.
N.P. Singh, who was previously the CEO and Managing Director of Sony Pictures Networks India, has over 40 years of professional experience, with over two decades of experience in the television broadcasting sector. His previous positions involved being the CFO at Modicorp, Spice Telecom, and Multi Screen Media Pvt Ltd (Sony Entertainment Television). Singh began his professional journey at Hindustan Copper Ltd as a Senior Accounts Officer and is a graduate in commerce from Delhi University and a postgraduate in commerce from the Delhi School of Economics.
He’s joined by Professor Bharat N. Anand, who’s a renowned Harvard Business School thinker and whose research interests have been digital media strategy, platform economics, and digital transformation. His appointment serves to underscore JioStar’s increasing emphasis on building out its OTT (Over-the-Top) content and digital learning platforms.
These board-level appointments are done at a time when JioStar recently experienced an uptick in viewership for broadcasting high-profile events, an indication of the company’s attempt to increase its presence in broadcast as well as digital streaming space.
