Dr. Vasant P. Gandhi has completed his final term as an Independent Director of UPL Limited and retired from the Board with effect from November 22, 2025.
Dr. Gandhi is widely recognised for his pioneering contributions to the field of agribusiness management. He founded and chaired the Postgraduate Programme in Agri-Business Management at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A), where he has also served as Chairman of the Centre for Management in Agriculture and as a member of the Institute’s Board. He is currently a professor at IIM-A.
A Stanford University Ph.D., Dr. Gandhi has held influential roles with the World Bank, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and grassroots organisations in India. He has also been a visiting or adjunct professor at leading universities in Australia.
With more than 100 research papers and multiple books to his credit, Dr. Gandhi has made significant academic and policy contributions in agriculture, economics, finance, and agribusiness. He has served on the Prime Minister’s Task Force and continues to advise public and private sector organisations. He holds an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and a B.Sc. in Agriculture from Pantnagar.
