NTPC appoints Kurukshetra University Vice Chancellor Dr. Som Nath Sachdeva as Non Official Independent Director following a Ministry of Power order.
NTPC Limited has appointed Dr. Som Nath Sachdeva as a Non Official Independent Director on its Board, effective July 17, 2026, pursuant to an order issued by the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
Dr. Sachdeva has been serving as Vice Chancellor of Kurukshetra University since November 2020. During his tenure, he also held additional charge as Vice Chancellor of Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University, Jind, and Shri Krishna AYUSH University, Kurukshetra.
As Vice Chancellor, he played an important role in helping Kurukshetra University secure NAAC A++ accreditation and implement the National Education Policy 2020. He is an academician and administrator with more than 37 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy, and institutional management.
A graduate in Civil Engineering from Regional Engineering College Kurukshetra, Dr. Sachdeva earned his doctorate from Kurukshetra University. His expertise spans transportation engineering, road design, research, and consultancy. Throughout his academic career, he has supervised more than 75 M.Tech and Ph.D. scholars and has published over 100 research papers.
