Former Google Search leader Amitabh Kumar Singhal joins the Board of One 97 Communications as a Non Executive Non Independent Director.
Amitabh Kumar Singhal has been appointed as a Non Executive Non Independent Director (Additional Director) of One 97 Communications Limited, with effect from July 20, 2026.
Singhal is a computer scientist, technology leader, and the Founder of the Sitare Foundation and the upcoming Sitare University, initiatives focused on expanding access to technical education for underprivileged students.
He previously spent many years at Google, where he served as Senior Vice President of Search and was recognised as a Google Fellow. During his tenure, he led Google Search through a period of significant global growth before retiring from the company in 2016.
Earlier in his career, Singhal worked at AT&T Labs and was involved in academic research in the field of computer science. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery, has authored more than 30 research papers, and holds multiple patents.
Singhal earned his Bachelor of Technology degree from IIT Roorkee, a Master of Science from the University of Minnesota, and a PhD in Computer Science from Cornell University, specialising in information retrieval.
