Akhil Gupta To Step Down As Vice Chairman Of Bharti Enterprises

Akhil Gupta will retire from his role as Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises on March 31 2026 bringing to a close more than three decades of association with the group.

Gupta has played a central role in shaping Bharti Enterprises into a global telecom and digital services powerhouse. He led strategic partnerships with international operators such as British Telecom Telecom Italia Singapore Telecom and Vodafone. He was also instrumental in attracting global investors including Warburg Pincus Temasek KKR and Sequoia strengthening the group’s financial foundation and growth trajectory.

During his tenure he drove several transformational initiatives that changed the operating model of the business. These included the outsourcing of IT and network management functions and the creation of Indus Towers which has grown into one of the largest telecom tower companies in the world. His leadership supported both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions across multiple markets.

Gupta currently serves on the boards of Bharti AXA Life Insurance Eutelsat Communications 360 ONE WAM Limited Zepto and Snapdeal. Through these roles he continues to contribute to governance strategy and business development across sectors.

A Chartered Accountant by qualification Gupta is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School. With over forty years of professional experience he has received several national and international recognitions for his contribution to business leadership and industry development.
