Former diplomat Rahul Chhabra appointed as Independent Director of Avadh Sugar and Energy Limited effective June 15 2026 subject to shareholder approval
Rahul Chhabra has been appointed as an Independent Director and Additional Director of Avadh Sugar and Energy Limited with effect from June 15 2026 subject to shareholder approval.
Chhabra is a former Indian diplomat with extensive experience in economic diplomacy international relations and public policy. He served as Secretary Economic Relations in the Ministry of External Affairs until his retirement in July 2021 where he oversaw India’s economic engagement with countries and multilateral institutions.
During his diplomatic career he held several senior assignments including High Commissioner to Kenya Ambassador to Somalia Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations Environment Programme and UN Habitat and Ambassador to Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
His professional experience spans international cooperation economic policy negotiations and engagement with global institutions. He has played a key role in strengthening India’s economic and diplomatic relationships across multiple regions.
Chhabra holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College.
