Steel Authority of India Limited names Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda as CMD following recommendation by the Public Enterprises Selection Board.
Steel Authority of India Limited has appointed Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda as its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), based on the recommendation of the Public Enterprises Selection Board.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Panda currently serves as Director (Finance) at SAIL and has been holding additional charge as Director (Commercial) since April 2025. During his tenure, he has been involved in initiatives related to debt reduction, cost optimisation, tax planning, invoicing systems, and internal policy reforms.
With over three decades of experience at SAIL, Dr. Panda joined the organisation as a management trainee in 1992 and has worked across various plants and operational units. His expertise spans financial accounting, budgeting, taxation, treasury management, and corporate strategy. He has also contributed to areas such as mining operations, plant management, and project execution within the company.
He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering, a postgraduate diploma in finance from Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar, and a doctorate in business finance.
