State Bank of India announces retirement of Nitin Chugh following completion of his tenure as Deputy Managing Director and Head of Digital Banking & Transformation.

State Bank of India has announced the retirement of Nitin Chugh, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Digital Banking & Transformation, effective March 3, 2026, upon completion of his tenure.

Chugh is a banking professional with nearly three decades of experience in the financial services sector. He joined SBI in March 2022 after serving as Managing Director and CEO of Ujjivan Small Finance Bank from December 2019 to September 2021.

Before that, he spent over 18 years at HDFC Bank, where he held key leadership roles across retail banking, credit cards, branch banking, and digital channels. He led credit card sales between 2004 and 2008 and later served as Group Head – Digital Banking from 2013 to 2019. Earlier in his career, he worked with HCL Ltd., Modi Xerox Ltd., and Standard Chartered Bank.

He holds an engineering degree along with an MBA.
