Muker Jeet Sharma Retires as Independent Director of Petronet LNG

Muker Jeet Sharma has retired as Independent Director of Petronet LNG Limited upon completion of his tenure, effective November 24, 2025.

A retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer of the 1985 batch, Sharma previously served in the State Forest Service from 1978 to 1985 and in the Indian Forest Service until 2014, retiring as Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests. Over four decades of public service, he led key initiatives in forest conservation and community forestry in Jammu & Kashmir and was honoured with the Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra Award.

Beyond forestry and environmental stewardship, Sharma has contributed to public administration, climate change initiatives, pollution control, ecology, soil and water conservation, strategy, project management, and consultancy. He is also the Founder and President of the J&K Amateur Fencing Association.

Sharma holds a science degree from Jammu, an M.Sc. in Geography from Punjab University, Chandigarh, and an M.Sc. in Forestry from the Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun.
