The Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) has appointed S. Sankarasubramanian, CEO & MD of Coromandel International, as its new Chairman, and Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, MD of Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Ltd. (HURL), as Co-Chairman.
The Fertiliser Association of India (FAI) has announced the appointment of S. Sankarasubramanian, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Coromandel International, as Chairman, and Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director of Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Ltd. (HURL), as Co-Chairman of the association.
Sankarasubramanian, who previously served as Co-Chairman of the FAI Board and Chairman of its Southern Region, brings over three decades of leadership experience in the fertiliser industry. Having been with the Murugappa Group since 1993, he has held key roles in finance, operations, and general management. He began his career at EID Parry (India) Ltd., joined Coromandel International in 2003, and rose to become CFO in 2011, later leading the fertiliser business in 2017 before assuming his current role as CEO & MD. He also serves on the Boards of Tunisian Indian Fertiliser S.A., Foskor (Pty) Ltd., NACL Industries, and other Coromandel subsidiaries. A mathematics graduate from the University of Madras, he is a member of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India and an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program (2009).
Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, who will serve as Co-Chairman, has over 36 years of experience in India’s fertiliser and agri-input sector. He began his career with Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers and subsequently held leadership positions at HIL (India) Ltd. and Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Ltd., where he led major operational turnarounds. At HURL, Dr. Mohanty oversees three major urea plants — Gorakhpur, Sindri, and Barauni — and also serves as the first MD of Assam Valley Fertilizer and Chemical Company Ltd. A Fellow of the Institute of Directors (FIoD), he has completed executive programmes at IIM Lucknow and IIM Kolkata and holds a management degree from Berhampur University.
